William Wayne Harris

William Wayne Harris, age 65, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord  on Friday, September 24th, 2021 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.  A native of Yancey county, he was the son of the late Mamie Grace Rathburn.  He was also preceded in death by a uncle that was like a father Lawrence Rathburn.

Wayne was a dedicated member of New Beginning Baptist Church. He was a hard worker and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren who he loved dearly. He had worked and was a trainer for Asplundh Tree Expert LLC. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Wilson boundary Hunting Club, and enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers football.

Surviving is his loving wife of 32 years, Gina Harris of the home, sons: Jonathan Harris (Brittany) of Newdale and Cody Harris (Paige) of Newland, grandchildren:  Makynli, Kirra, Logan , Arabella, Blakeley, Brynleigh and Sawyer; brother, Nolan Harris(Kaye) of Burnsville, sisters: Lillie McPhee of Burnaville, and Wilma McCurry (Wayne) of Burnsville; brother in law; Shane Riddle of Burnsville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 28th, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Chad Chrisawn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Eddie McMahan cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
