Steve “Seymore” Hardin

Steve “Seymore” Hardin, left his earthly body and joined his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Sunday, September 26th, 2021 where he received his new healthy body and is now walking and rejoicing.   A native of Yancey County, he was a son of Mary Lea Hylemon Hardin of Burnsville and the late Ralph Hardin.  He was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Gladys Parker and a brother-in-law, Ben Parker.  Steve was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.  He was one of the first EMT’s in Yancey County.  Steve was a salesman for many years, he could sell anything to anyone.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.  Family was a very important part of his life.

Surviving is his loving wife of 39 years, Katie Parker Hardin; daughter, Stephanie Virsu ( Paul), of Bakersville; sons: James Hardin of Burnsville and Chandler Hardin (Alli) also of Burnsville; grandchildren: Alexander Virsu, Connor Virsu, Caitlyn Virsu and Vena Mary Lea Hardin; sisters: Brenda Hardin and Alecia “Lisa” Conner (Billy); sister-in-law, Regina Davis (Eddie) all of Marion; nieces: Starla Blanton (Justin), Lacey Greene (David), Lea Conner, Amanda Ledford (Randy) and Nikki Arrowood (Trent) and nephews: Dillon Conner, Trey Davis and Chris Parker.  Several aunts, uncles, great nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 1st in Shoal Creek Baptist Church.  Rev. Jerry Shelton and Rev. Merritt Taylor will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the church.  Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Burton Cemetery on Lickskillet.
