COVID Update 9/29/21

The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, show a decrease in new positive cases in Yancey and Avery Counties and a small increase in Mitchell County.

During the period from September 21st to September 27th Yancey County had 70 new positive cases detected, compared to 115 the previous week.  Mitchell County reported 75 new positive cases last week and 69 the week before.  Avery County saw new positive cases drop117 to 48.

The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is now 31. 15 of those deaths are from Avery County, 10 in Yancey and Mitchell County went from 5 deaths to 6 last week.

If you would like to be tested for COVID, drive up testing sites are available and no appointment is required at any of the testing sites and there is no charge for the test.
