J. C. Styles, age 90, of Burnsville passed away on Sunday October 3rd, 2021 at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Kivet Ollie Silver Styles. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Philip O. Styles and Donald C. “Buster” Styles.
J.C. was a U. S. Air Force Veteran, having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a long-term member of the First Baptist Church of Burnsville and was very active in his church community. JC in partnership with his brothers and sisters operated Styles & Company garage for many years where he cultivated many friends. He was an avid sportsman and especially enjoyed fishing the local trout streams and golfing in his later years.
Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Virginia (Gin) Caldwell Styles; son, Darrel K. Styles of Hyattsville, MD; sisters: Thelma Hughes and husband, Jack, Wilma Garland and husband, Rev. Philip Garland, Katie Evans and husband, Jim, all of Burnsville, and Diana Wooten and husband, Curtis of Morganton; brother: Wade Styles and wife, Mary Jo, of Burnsville; and sister-in-law,Jewell C. Styles also of Burnsville. He had many nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday October 17th, 2021 at 3 pm at the First Baptist Church of Burnsville.
