Barbara Ward, age 82, of South Dale Street in Spruce Pine, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on April 22, 1939 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late McCoy and Elizabeth Carpenter Stamey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ward who passed away in 2015. Also preceding her in death was her son, Tim Ward; her great grandson, Austin Stockton; her brothers; Lindsey, Charles, Lewis, and Macarthur; and her sisters; Ruby, Lucille, Shirley, Anis, and Dorothy.
Barbara was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She served there in the Nursery at the church for many years and was honored for her many years of service in the church nursery. She was an avid watcher of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed coloring adult version coloring books. She loved her church family and her family and spending time with them.
Left to cherish her memory is her sons; Allen Ward of Burnsville and Andy Ward of Spruce Pine; her daughter; Mary Johnson of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren; Tyler and Casey Stockton; Ashley Vance, Brianna Dees, Justin, Savannah, and Addison Ward; her great grandchildren; Haven Angel, Jaylee, and Madison; her sister; Faye King of Kernersville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Toby Crowder and Nathan Silver officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
