Doris McKinney Snipes, age 85 of Humpback Mountain Road in Spruce Pine passed away Sunday October 10, 2021 at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Clyde and Louise Hefner McKinney and was a member of the Altapass Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband David Snipes.
Doris enjoyed watching football, reading and working Puzzles and Crosswords.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister; Rebecca Plemmons of Spruce Pine, a brother Grover McKinney and wife Betty of Marshall, NC, nephew; Anthony McKinney and a niece Andrea McKinney both of Marshall, NC. She is also survived by an aunt; Peggy McKinney and husband Gus of Spruce Pine, a special friend; Carlene Ward of Spruce Pine and a host of cousins.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Altapass Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Marcus Benfield officiating. Interment will follow in the McKinney Gap Cemetery.
