Ted Fields

Ted Fields, age 80, of Newland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021 at this home.  A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Buster and Ellamae Norman Fields.  He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gerald McGuire; brother, Phillip Fields and a nephew, Davy Fields.  Ted was a shrubbery man all his life and will always be remembered as a loving husband, daddy and paw.  He was a Godly man who loved the Lord and raised his family in church.

Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley B. Fields; daughters: Lisa McGuire of Roan Mountain, Jerri McKinney and husband, Keith, of Roan Mountain and Letha Corn and husband, Jerry, of Newland; grandchildren: Jennifer Walsh (Joe), Jessica Buchanan (Patrick), Matthew McKinney, Mark McKinney, Sabrina Bowman (Robby Byrd) and Tabitha Honeycutt (Stacy); great-grandchildren: Tylie, Owen, Nate, Jaslyn, Scarlett and a baby boy on the way and one nephew, Tim Fields of Newland.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 14th at Big Meadows Missionary Baptist Church.  Following the visitation, the family will go in procession to Elk Park Cemetery for a graveside at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Keith Russell and Hospice Chaplain Andy Willis officiating.
