Benny Huskins

Benny Huskins, age 87, of the Blue Rock Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Clyde and Molly Ray Huskins.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Buchanan Huskins who passed away in 2020; sisters: Thelma Hensley and Joyce Autrey; brothers: J.C., Arthur Lee “Dob” and Morris Huskins and brothers-in-law: Sam Gouge, Jack Huskins and Wilson Hensley.  He was a member, deacon and usher at Browns Creek Baptist Church.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his wife.  They loved going on long walks, spending time at Carolina Beach and going to family reunions.  Benny also enjoyed gardening and took great pride working in his yard.

Surviving are his sons: Ricky Huskins and wife, Doris, and Ronnie Huskins and wife, Deborah; his daughter, Regina McKinney and husband, Tim, all of Burnsville; grandchildren: Charlene Fox (Chad), Angela McGhee (Allan), Heather Huskins and Courtney Baker (Andrew); six great-grandchildren; five great, great-grandchildren; sisters: Marie Gouge of Hickory, Mary Ann Huskins of Marion and Louise Hensley of Burnsville; sisters-in-law: Cleo Huskins of Hillsborough and Mary Huskins of Blue Rock and brother-in-law, D.G. Hensley of Marion.  Numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 24th in the Cornelius Ray Cemetery on Pollard Mine Road.  Ricky Huskins will officiate.
