The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, showed a decrease in new positive cases detected in Mitchell and Avery Counties and a slight increase in Yancey.
During the period from October 18th to October 24th Yancey County had 29 new positive cases detected, compared to 26 the previous week. Mitchell County reported 29 new positive cases last week and 49 the week before. Avery County saw new positive cases detected drop from 60 to 25. .
The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is 36. 17 of those deaths are from Avery County, 12 in Yancey and 7 from Mitchell County.
