As always people must be on alert potential phone scams. Recently a scammer has been contacting French Broad Electric’s customers pretending that they are from French Broad calling about a delinquent account. The scammer tells a person they must pay immediately or their electricity will be disconnected. You should be aware that this is not how French Broad handles delinquent accounts. They send multiple written notices for delinquent accounts. They never call on a weekend and they never demand payment by a prepaid debit card or wire transfer. If you receive this type of phone call Hang Up Immediately without providing information. If you have a concern about your electrical account contact French Broad Electric directly 682-6121.
