Betty Jean Ollis McClellan, age 87, of Highland Avenue in Spruce Pine, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2021 at her home.
Born on January 15, 1934 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Bessie McGee Ollis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance McClellan who passed away in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her daughter; Alice Ollis and her sisters; Bernice Arnett and Mildred Jo Ollis.
Betty was member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She had a strong faith in the Lord and she loved her church and church family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading western themed books and watching western movies. She enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She had a great interest in the Western United States, she also enjoyed trips to the beach, rivers, wildlife, and hummingbirds.
Left to cherish her memory is her granddaughter; Ashley Ollis of Spruce Pine; her grandson; Scott Ollis of Greensboro and her brother; David Ollis of Spruce Pine.
A private service will be on Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Darrin Waldroup officiating.
