Mitchell Sheriff’s Department To Have Body Cams

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Department deputies will begin wearing body cams next year. This past February they started the grant process for the body cams. They received notification on October 22nd from the North Carolina Governor’s Crime Commission of approval of the funds for them. They expect to receive the funds sometime next year and Mitchell County deputies will begin wearing the body cams. Body cams are a way of protecting deputies from false accusations, provide great evidence in court and are also a protection to citizens.
