Weldon Adkins, age 62, formerly of Big Creek, passed away on Friday, November 12th, 2021 at Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Ed and Ruth Howell Adkins. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Priscilla Adkins Honeycutt and a brother-in-law, Larry Peterson.
Weldon loved to ride horses, everything outdoors, rhyming, but more than anything, he loved his family.
Surviving is his son, Nick Wright (Brittney) of Bee Log; his grandchildren: Abram and Texie Wright; sisters: Burdella Edwards (Mike) of Erwin, TN, Yvonne Adkins Peterson of Green Mountain, Mary Fouladi (Moe) of Newport Beach, CA, Felicia Hope Honeycutt (Tony) of Green Mountain and Teresa Ann Banks of Burnsville; brother, E.J. Adkins of Big Creek and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Weldon’s life will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 19th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Marvin Hensley will officiate.
