Born on November 5, 1951, in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Paul Hollifield and late Delphia McKinney. In addition to his mother and father, Burton was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne McKinney of Maiden, NC.
Burton enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and was an avid classic cars and trucks enthusiast. In addition, he loved to spend time with close friends sharing meals on Roan Mountain listening to Bluegrass music.
Left in remembrance of Burton and his life are his sons, Mitchell McKinney of Graham NC and Randall McKinney of Bakersville.
A time to support the family, share memories, and attend a small interment ceremony with family and friends will be Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the McKinney Family cemetery.
