Karen Denise Ziegelmeier, age 61, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at her adopted sisters residence. She was the daughter of the late Frank Delano and Jean Mace Grindstaff. Karen loved horses, especially her horse Lady. She was a strong, courageous and beautiful soul who loved everyone.
Surviving is her daughter, Kaitlyn Ziegelmeier of Lower Browns Creek; former husband, Kurtis Paul Ziegelmeier; adopted son, Trevor Briggs of South Toe; adopted sister, Sherry Robinson (Guy) of Spruce Pine; adopted brother, Darryl McFalls; nephew, Dustin Grindstaff and cousins: Jesse Grindstaff (Victoria Jackson) and Marymae Grindstaff.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Monday, November 29th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Family and friends will then go in procession from the funeral home to the Ballew Cemetery for a graveside service. Rev. James Ballew and Rev. Guy Robinson will officiate.
