Billy Joe Thomas, age 65, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Thursday, November 25th at Mission Hospital.
A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Robert and Verzella McKinney Thomas.
Billy Joe worked as a finisher for Henredon Furniture. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving is a daughter, Jessica Chapman, and husband, Timothy; two grandsons: Eli and Ethan Chapman; two sisters: Linda Willis and husband, Terry, of Micaville, and Melissa Davis of Mars Hill; two brothers: Danny Thomas and wife, Sharon, of Spruce Pine, and David Thomas and wife, Ruth, of Connelly Springs. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
