COVID Update 11/29/21

The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, showed a decrease in new positive cases detected in Avery, Mitchell and Yancey Counties. In all 3 counties most of the new positive cases were those that were not vaccinated.

During the period from November 22nd to November 28th Yancey County had 43 new positive cases detected, compared to 82 the previous week.  Mitchell County reported 21 new positive cases last week and 23 the week before.  Avery County saw 18 new positive cases compared to 20 the week before.

The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st has remained the same for several weeks at 40. 21 of those deaths are from Avery County, 12 in Yancey and 7 from Mitchell County.
