The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, showed an increase in new positive cases detected in Avery, Mitchell and Yancey Counties.
During the period from November 29th to December 5th, Yancey County had 76 new positive cases detected, compared to 43 the previous week. Mitchell County reported 62 new positive cases last week and 21 the week before. Avery County saw 45 new positive cases compared to 18 the week before.
The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is now 46. 21 of those deaths are from Avery County, 15 in Yancey and 10 from Mitchell County.
