Richard Samuel Thomas, age 60, of Green Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville, NC.
A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Samuel “S.F.” and Iris Byrd Thomas.
Richard was the owner and operator of a heavy equipment business who was full of life. He was a jokester who teased his friends about being a diehard Ford fan.
His deepest love was for his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Surviving is his loving wife of 27 years, Christina Thomas; a son, Richard Thomas, Jr. (Sabrina) of Green Mountain; two stepdaughters: Sarah Pate (Preston) of Green Mountain and Jennifer Silver of Red Hill; grandchildren: Allison, Grace, Jason, Ava, Jazmin, Jimmy, Victoria and Cody; great-grandchildren: Talon, Sunny and Eleanor. He is also survived by numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 11th at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Double Island Road.
