Dr. Ben Alfred Raines, age 88, of Mars Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 28th, 2021 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
He was born in Kansas City, MO to the late Ben and Sarah Peaster Raines. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Fox.
Ben was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He loved his church and his church family.
Ben was a licensed physician and was board certified in family practice and pain management. He started his private practice in Florida July 15th, 1965 and retired in 2020 at the age of 87, finishing his career in pain management in North Carolina. Ben was voted Physician of the Year in 1991 and was a long time member of MENSA.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Jean Allen Raines; two sons: Bruce and Bradley Raines of St. Petersburg, FL and a sister, Alice Vangordon of Phoenix, AZ.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 10th at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Hylemon and Rev. Jerry Shelton officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Mt.
