Melba Ray Israel, age 80, of Burnsville, NC, passed away on December 11th, 2021, at Mission Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC.
She was the last survivor of her generation. She was born on May 7th, 1941, in Yancey County, NC to the late Claty Ray and Elizabeth King Ray.
Before her retirement, Melba worked at American Enka.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ralph Israel; and children; Rex Netherton and Nancy Netherton.
In addition to her parents, Melba was predeceased by her sisters: Maude Dodd, Irene Holmes, and Betty Carroll.
A celebration of Melba’s life will be held on Saturday, December 18th, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home in Burnsville.
