Charles M. Gilbert, age 59, of Burnsville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 13th, 2021 at his home.
A lifelong native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Evelyn Gilbert Pate. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Paul N. Pate and Scooter Pate. Charles was a 1981 graduate of Mountain Heritage High School and received a degree in cosmetology from Mayland Community College. He was a make-up artist and set builder for the Parkway Play House for many years. He was an extremely talented and caring person who was the rock of his family, always making sure that his family was taken care of.
Surviving is his siblings: J.R. Boone (April) of Crabtree, Phyllis M. Silver (Larry) of Micaville and David Pate of Burnsville; nephew, Jacoab Silver; great-nephew, Parker Silver; his little dog, Buster and close friends: Avin Ledford, Darrell Nanney and many others that he cared for deeply.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
