Brenda Peterson Banks, 79, of Burnsville, passed away on Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Tice and Zora Deyton Peterson. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Gladys Tipton and Pauline Harris; an infant brother and brothers: Arville, Rassie and Rotha Peterson.
Brenda worked for many years at the Nu Wray Inn.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, Elvis music, collecting red glassware and whatnots.
Surviving is her husband of 21 years, David Banks; sons: Darren Renfro and wife, Cheryl, of Burnsville, Steven Renfro and wife, Jennifer, of Estatoe and David Brown Banks, Jr. and wife, Vickie, of Mars Hill; daughter, Geri Irish and husband, Brian, of Alexander; grandchildren: Mindy, Victoria, Abby, Lili, Ashley, Tyler, Izaiah, Jerika and Nikki; great-grandchildren: Gavin, Grayson, Analise, Camden and Aspen and brothers: William Peterson and wife, Helen, of Goose Creek, SC and Herman Peterson of Burnsville. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Services for close family and friends will be held in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services with Rev.s Philip and Scot Garland officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
The family asks that everyone who attends to please wear a mask.
