John “Jack” Samuel Pregartner, husband to Sue since 1989, father to Kimberly of Leesburg, VA and Kristen of Doylestown, PA, and “PAPA” to two granddaughters, Charley and Tessa Leonard, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, December 12, 2021.
John was born on April 29, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of John and Florence Pregartner. John has been a resident of Burnsville, North Carolina for the past seven years, previously from Doylestown, PA.
John worked from 1988 as a general contractor, designing homes and making spaces beautiful. He had a brilliant mind, loved architecture and design, and enjoyed using his own hands. John was a 1959 graduate of John Bartram High School in Philadelphia, PA. John was in the Army Reserve prior to enlisting in The United States Navy in 1960. John worked at Western Electric and Western Union from 1963 to 1988.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Florence; his sister, Patty; his brother, Stanley; and his nephew, Bob. His sister, Diane, and his nephew, David, are currently living in Kinston, WA.
John was always described as “a sweetheart”. He was charming, with an infectious smile. John was an avid fly fisherman, and loved to ride his Harley.
A private celebration of life will be held in Burnsville in the early spring of 2022. John’s ashes will be laid to rest in Philadelphia, PA at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield PA.
