L.D. Silvers – (Updated – New Time)

L.D. Silvers, age 79, of Spruce Pine, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.  A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Dallas and Rose Carpenter Silvers.  He was also preceded in death by sisters: Bess Smith, Grace Biddix, Jennie King and Maude Silvers, and brothers: Paul, Perry and Roy Silvers.   L.D. was a US Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era.  He loved being outdoors and being active, traveling, spending time with family, and enjoyed watching racing and the Braves play baseball.

Surviving is his loving wife, Billie G. Silvers; son, Tim Silvers of Spruce Pine; step-daughters: Crystal Pritchard and husband, Max, and Tracy Grindstaff and husband, Jeff, all of Spruce Pine; sisters: Louise Bishop and husband, Bobby, of Newdale, Wilma McMahan of Spruce Pine, and Frances Pruitt of Morganton; brother, Charles Silvers of Spruce Pine; four step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022 in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Family and friends will then go in procession to Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery where there will be a Graveside Service with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.
