Shirley Crotts Lovelace, age 85, of Valley Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Kaye Webb Huskey.
Born on January 8, 1936 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late John David and Ruth Lancaster Crotts. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Don H. Lovelace who passed away in 2003, her granddaughter; Francesca Wind Dancer Mathes; great granddaughter; Lilly Moon Mathes and a nephew; David Crotts.
Shirley was a lady of great faith and was an inspiration of the Lord to her family and those that knew her. She earned her Master’s Degree from Western Carolina University and was retired from the Mitchell County Department of Social Services where she served in the Child Protective Service. She loved spending time with her children; grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also loved her dogs.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughters; Donna Mathes of Spruce Pine and Kaye Webb Huskey and husband, Eric of Spruce Pine; her son; David H. Lovelace of Aberdeen, NC; her brothers; Michael Crotts and wife, Sue and Johnny Crotts and wife, Judy all of Forest City; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and interment will be on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Race Path Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro, NC.
