The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, show the detection of in new positive cases continuing to increase in the Tri-County area just as it is across the country.
During the period from January 3rd through yesterday, January 9th, Yancey County had 222 new positive cases detected, compared to 172 the previous week. Mitchell County reported 161 new positive cases last week and 106 the week before. Avery County saw 188 new positive cases compared to 153 the week before.
Yancey County reported 2 more deaths attributed to COVID last week and Avery County reported one new death. The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is 59.
