Nancy Jane Horton Hensley, age 78, passed away Thursday, January 6th, 2022 at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.
She was preceded in death by her parents Max and Opal Riddle Horton; a brother, David Horton; and husband, Billy Fred Hensley.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Steve Horton and wife Mary; nephews: Victor Horton and wife, Misty, of Burnsville, and John Horton of Raleigh; a niece, Stephanie Finnegan of Raleigh; a step-son, Michael Hensley and wife, Carolyn; step-granddaughters: Lacy Good and husband, Edwin, Kaleigh Aldridge and husband, Mark, both of S.C. She also leaves special sisters-in-law, Rosa Horton and Diane Franklin; as well as special neighbors, Eddie and Judy Robinson.
She was a 1960 graduate of Cane River High School and a 1963 graduate of Warren Wilson Junior College. She was a retired book-keeper for Blue Bell Corp. and Burnsville Hosiery Mill. She loved the outdoors and could identify most plants, birds, and animals of Western North Carolina.
Graveside services will be held at the Banks Cemetery on Tuesday, January 11th at 2:00. The Reverend Dale Banks will officiate.
