Local Women Arrested With 2.7 Kilos of Schedule 1 Drug

 

The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation, along with Homeland Security and the US Postal Inspector, after receiving a report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agents that resulted in two local women being arrested with a large quantity of drugs. Anne Elizabeth Kopicko and Siena Marie Butler both of 110 Happy Hollow Road, Green Mountain were charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule I, Felony Possession of Schedule VI and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

As a part of the investigation a search warrant was issued and executed upon the women’s residence. A package contained three white plastic bottles, containing 2.7 kilos of an illegal substance called Dimethyltryptamine.

Dimethyltryptamine or DMT is a hallucinogenic tryptamine drug producing the effects similar to those of psychedelic drugs like LSD. Dimethyltryptamine or DMT, also sometimes called Dimitri is a Schedule I controlled substance under state law.

Street value of the recovered DMT has been estimated at $500,000. Also recovered during the search were containers of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and more than $5,000 in cash.

Sheriff Hilliard stated “I would like to thank all the agencies involved in this investigation for the hard work on this case.   Yancey County Sheriff’s Office is committed to holding those accountable that brings these drugs into our community.”

Both subjects were taken in front of a magistrate and given a $10,000 secure bond.
