Lillian Ballew Hollifield, age 91, of Tappan Street in Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at her home.
Born on July 25, 1930 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Edge Ballew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Tommy Hollifield who passed away in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her son; Robert ‘Bobby’ Hollifield and her brother; Sherrill Ballew.
Lillian was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine. She was a member of the Kitchen Committee that provided meals for many church wide functions. She was retired from Day’s Drug Store in Spruce Pine and she worked previously at the Family Stamps Store in Spruce Pine. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching game shows on t.v., the Food Network, and the news. She also enjoyed traveling with Phil Toney Tours.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Susan Hollifield and Russell Saxon of Spruce Pine; and her daughter-in-law; Faye Pittman and husband, Gary of Spruce Pine.
Private Services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Interment will be in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. A public memorial service will be planned and announced later.
