Former Spruce Pine mayor Wes Foy unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, January 26th at his home. Foy served as mayor from December 2003 to December 2007. He is remembered as being a hands-on mayor as he was interested in every aspect of city government. He rode along with Public Works when they were pushing snow and he made rounds with police officers. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
