Sammy Parker, age 79, of the Blue Rock Community, passed away on Sunday, January 30th, 2022 at his home.
A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Sam and Gladys Sparks Parker. Sammy worked at Burlington, Glen Raven and especially enjoyed his time working at Phils Tire.
He spent his free time keeping up with the weather and enjoyed charting the changes. His biggest joys were watching his grandson race his motorcycle, watching TV and especially big meals with his family.
Surviving is his daughters: Patricia Parker of Burnsville, Jackie Carpenter and husband, Chucky, of Spruce Pine and Crystel Brown and husband, Chris, of Blue Rock; grandchildren: Bradley McCurry (Cristina), Emily Shipman (Cole), Colby Carpenter and Christa Brown and one great-grandson, Ryder McCurry. Several other extended family members also survive.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. on February 15th at Christ Baptist Church in Spruce Pine. Pastor Billy Ledford will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
