The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, show the detection of new positive cases decreased in Avery, Mitchell and Yancey Counties.
The report showed Mitchell County with 137 new positives compared to 178 last week. Avery County detected 157 new cases, 234 last week. Yancey County 151 new positives this week and 220 the previous week.
Mitchell County and Yancey County each reported 4 additional COVID 19 related deaths.
The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is 71.
