Buster Deyton

Buster Deyton, age 69, of Green Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Clifford and Hassie Deyton. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Erma Gortney and a brother, J.W. Deyton. Buster was the manager of Revco for 20 plus years and the owner and operator of Deyton Logging. Through his life he loved interactions with people and the friends he made along the way. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, especially growing tomatoes. His pride and joy was his family, spending time with his grandkids and watching them play ball.

Surviving is his daughter, Crystal Garland and husband, Scot, of Green Mountain and sons: Shannon Deyton and wife, Christy, of Burnsville and Loren Deyton and wife, Lauren, of Burnsville; grandchildren: Colton (Lyndsey), Chandler, Vega, Nova, Brayden, Nolan and Knox; the mother of his children, Ingrid Deyton; sisters: Norma Day and husband, Carol, of Hickory, Brenda Dover and husband, Blake, of Newton Conover and Glenda Edwards and husband, Danny of Burnsville; sister-in-law, Brenda Deyton of Hickory; a brother-in-law, Ted Gortney and his beloved dog, Bocco. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 20th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Tommy Hensley and Rev. Scot Garland will officiate. Burial will follow in the Clifford Deyton Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home and at all other times will gather at the home of his son, Shannon, at 1685 Green Mountain Drive. The family is requesting that masks be worn.
