The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, show the detection of new positive cases continuing to decline in Avery, Mitchell and Yancey Counties.
The report from February 13th through February 19th showed Mitchell County with 57 new positives compared to 98 the previous week. Avery County detected 109 new cases, 146 the week before. Yancey County had 89 new positives and 143 the previous week.
Mitchell and Yancey County each reported 1 additional COVID 19 related death.
The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is 74.
