The latest COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area, released by the Toe River Health District, have dropped dramatically in the past few weeks. The detection of new positive cases continued to decline in Avery, Mitchell and Yancey Counties.
The report from February 20th through February 26th showed Mitchell County with 25 new positives compared to 57 the previous week. Avery County detected 68 new cases, 109 the week before. Yancey County had 42 new positives and 89 the previous week.
Mitchell County reported 2 additional COVID 19 related deaths.
The number of COVID deaths in the Tri County area since August 1st is 76.
For the time being the Toe River Health District is going to stop reporting numbers but they will continue to monitor the COVID Virus.
