Ralph Lee Briggs, age 71, of the Bailey Branch Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Rev. Arnold and Geneva Fox Briggs. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Neva Silvers and sisters: Juanita Woodby and Margie Briggs. Ralph was a member of Byrd Branch Baptist Church. He retired from Unimin and was an avid foxhunter. Ralph loved his Lord, his KJV Bible, his family and going to car shows.
Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years: Lena Silvers Briggs; son, Jackie Briggs and wife, Charlene, of South Toe; daughter, Michelle McIntosh and husband, Jordan, of Jacks Creek; grandchildren: Dillon Briggs (Abby) of South Toe, Caitlin Oetting (Alex) of South Toe, Dustin Atkins (Andi) of Bakers Creek, Brittany Hoilman (Austin) of Jacks Creek and Issy Cook of Jacks Creek; great-grandchildren: Keaston, Maverick, Axston, Braxton, Ensliegh, Ednie and future great-grandson, Briggston; sisters: Lillian Silvers, Wilma Briggs (Ray) and Linda “Faye” Briggs; brother, Larry Briggs and brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry Elkins (Tina) and Ken Mainster (Geraldine).
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 21st in the Jack Silvers Family Cemetery. Speakers will be Jordon McIntosh and Dustin Atkins.
