Gary Neal Sutton, age 59, of the Bald Mountain Community, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, March 19th, 2022 after an extended illness. A native of Monroe in Union County, he was a son of the late Joe and Delores Sutton.
Gary lived a Christian life and his love for his wife and family was unsurpassed. His girls will always remember him singing “You Are My Sunshine” to them. He was owner and operator of Sutton Appliance Sales and Service and an appliance repair technician most of his life, and even when his health was failing and he physically could not work, he would listen to friends and neighbors and help them repair their appliances step by step. He not only could repair appliances, but was also a jack of all trades. Gary will always be remembered as someone who never met a stranger.
Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Bonnie “Bunny” Sutton; daughters: Krista Sutton Marshall (Ron) of Epworth, GA and Kim Sutton (Jack Bundrick) of Burnsville; grandchildren: Richard Pierce Neal Marshall, Eden Arabella June Marshall, Riley McCourry and Gabriella “Gobie” Phillips; brother, Wayne Sutton of Monroe; sister, Rebecca Sutton of Monroe; brothers and sisters-in-law: Donna Coates, Mark Manus, Kelly Brown, Cindy Collins, Karen Williams and Sunny Morris. Several other extended family who he loved dearly also survived.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 26th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Brother Cliff Garris will officiate. Graveside Services will follow in the Sutton’s Homeplace Cemetery at their home. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a special thank you to First Baptist Church, Burnsville, and Jim C. and the Boy Scout Troop from Madison County for the ramp built so that Gary could come home to pass in comfort with his family.
