The Yancey County Sheriff’s Department is making people aware of a Facebook scam that has surfaced. Apparently with this scam someone sends you a message asking you for help in getting Facebook on their new phone, claiming they are on messenger and need you to get them a code for Facebook. If you do what this post is asking the hacker/scammer will have control of your and the person’s Facebook they are using including Messenger. You should never respond to a message like this. If you receive something like that from someone you know, you should call to verify that the person sent you a message.
