Sidney “Sid” Peterson, age 72, of Ramseytown, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at CarePartners Solace Center. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late S.C. and Jane Wilson Peterson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Janice Murphy and a brother-in-law, Vick Whitson.
Sid worked with Liberty Cash & Carry and Yancey Builders for a number of years before working 28 years with Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home until his retirement. He was a “people person” and his personality would make everyone laugh. If you every met Sid and his infectious smile, you would never forget him. He loved woodworking, selling tools and such, working in his flowers, shrubbery and bushes, but if there was anything he loved to do, it was “loafering”. “Let’s take a ride!” he’d say and just ride around for hours. However, his greatest love was his wife, Linda, and his daughter, Tonya.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Linda Adkins Peterson; daughter, Tonya Hughes and husband, Allen, of Newdale; sister, Joyce Whitson of Harrell Hill; brothers: Calvin Peterson and wife, Shirley, of Murphytown, W. G. Peterson and wife, Jane, of Green Mountain and Terry Peterson and wife, Brenda, of Bolens Creek; brothers-in-law: John Murphy of Bowditch and Gary Adkins of Bald Creek; and two special sisters-in-law and their husbands: Phyllis Wilson and husband, Glen, of Bald Mountain and Glenda Hopson and husband, Tommy, of Green Mountain. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
Per Sid’s request, there will be a Graveside Service held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3rd in the Holcombe Cemetery on Meadow Road. Rev. Denny Wilson will officiate.
