The Burnsville Town Council voted Wednesday night, May 4th to approve “First Friday Burnsville”, an Artisan Market that will be held on the first Friday of each month from May to November. First Friday Burnsville will showcase 20 local and regional artisans allowing them to show, sell and tell the story of their pieces to local businesses, residents of Burnsville and visitors. The project is spearheaded by Melanie Saint-Jean. According to her, the first artisan market of 2022 is scheduled for October. She said, “It takes time to create the application process, there were requirements agreed upon by myself and the town for all vendors that need to be sent to all applicants before acceptance, The first weekend in August is the Mt. Mitchell Craft Show, The first weekend in September is the Literary Fair in Burnsville.” This will allow for ample time for the artisans to prepare for a successful community event on the square.
