Yancey County Register of Deeds, Susan Jobe wants to alert Yancey County citizens to beware of the following company:
Consumer’s Choice Home Warranty

Consumer’s Choice Home Warranty is mailing a postcard which is misleading and deceptive.
The front of the card states “COUNTY DEED RECORDS” and the back states “HOME
WARRANTY DIVISION”. It also states in bold letters “FINAL NOTICE”. Citizens pleasebeware of this mailing and understand that it did not come from the Yancey County Register of Deeds Office. If you receive this in your mail, dispose of it.
“I am concerned for our citizens, especially with our elderly citizens that they will be scared by this notice and send money for something that is not legitimate. In the past, there have been other companies with similar schemes. Do not be a victim of this scam. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call at 828-682-2174”, said Jobe.
The Attorney General’s Office has instituted legal action in past situations to prevent other companies from mailing similar notices to North Carolina property owners. If a citizen receives a similar mailing or if they know of citizens who paid money to this company, they can contact the NC Department of Justice at (919) 716-6000.
