A recent investigation into the sale of methamphetamine in Yancey County has led to one arrest. On June 6th, 2022, Yancey County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gerald Eugene Phillips, age 53, of Burnsville. Phillips was arrested in the area of Faststop Market on West Main Street. Phillips arrest is a result of an ongoing investigation into the sale of Methamphetamine in Yancey County, with more arrest expected in the future.
Phillips was charged with Felony Sell / Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Possess with intent Manufacture / Sell / Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Sell / Deliver Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture / Sell / Deliver Schedule VI Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession Schedule VI Controlled Substance.
Phillips is being held in the Yancey County Detention Center under a $100,000 secure bond.
