Small Earthquakes Around WNC

The United States Geological Survey reported a small earthquake occurred early Tuesday morning on the east side of Hendersonville.

The 2.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded about 4:12 a.m. near Barker Heights, about 2 miles east of Hendersonville, at a depth of about 5 miles. No damage was reported.

Another quake shook the Weaverville area Saturday morning just after 1am. This one was recorded at 1.8 magnitude

Last month, on May 28th, a 1.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded between Bakersville and Spruce Pine.
