A very kind and gentle man passed away at age 89 on July 1, 2022 at Smoky Ridge Heath and Rehabilitation. Bob was born on July 26, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan. His father, Edwin William Brandt and mother, Irma Claire Cale preceded in him death as well as his brother, Duane Brant.
Bob is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathleen Brandt; three children: Robert Brandt, Jr. (Michelle), Brenda Canfield (Michael) and William Brandt (Kim) and three step-sons: Ken Krise (Rhonda), Glenn Krise (Johnele) and Scott Krise. There are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at Central Michigan College and his Master of Arts in Education at the University of Michigan. He served his military time in the Army in Germany teaching his fellow soldiers whatever their needs were. He was a proud Principal at Cape View Elementary in Cocoa Beach, Florida and would take his students outside to see the space shots at Cape Canaveral.
Bob loved his days of sailing in the waters of South Florida and his 27 years in Burnsville with his woodworking hobbies. He was President of the Yancey County Literacy Council and enjoyed helping students of all ages.
A family memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Yancey Funeral Services.
