Randy Parker, age 72, of the Lincoln Park Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022, at CarePartners Solace Center. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Dolphus and Mary Elizabeth Young Parker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye Wilson Parker; a son, Doug Steward; two sisters: Juanita Young and Yvonne Parker; a brother, Dan Wesley Parker, as well as infant brothers: Lester David, Dolphus, Jr. and Lonnie D. Parker, Jr.
Randy was a member of Griffith Chapel Church. He was a dedicated coon hunter, bear hunter and fisherman, and former athlete who still enjoyed the game. He loved watching cooking shows and eating ice cream with his granddaughter. Family gatherings were always very special to him. He taught all his grandchildren to fight to survive in life. He dispensed many words of wisdom, and was known for saying, “I don’t have any enemies because I love everybody.” Randy was truly an inspiration to all who knew him.
Surviving is his son, Lonnie Parker of Burnsville; three daughters: Shelby Parker of Spruce Pine, and Stephanie Parker and Teresa Parker of Burnsville; eleven grandchildren: Jordan, Kendrick, Isaiah, Zachary, Lonna, Shawn, Nessie, Terrill, Naheim, Keona and Serenity; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers: Ossie Parker (Gail) of Burnsville, Jeff Parker (Cindy) of Old Fort, Timmie Parker of Marion, and Van Parker (Susan) of Morganton; three sisters: Carol Waters of Durham, Pam Parker of Asheville, and Nelly Inabinett of Black Mountain; special former sister-in-law, P.J. Barlow; close nieces and nephews: Edgar, Jr. (known as Jun Bug Young), Jackie Young and Shawn Young; special aunt and mother, Gwen Shade; David Lottahall of Florida, who was like a father to him; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves behind his favorite dogs, Old Stoker and Slim.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 16th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 17th at Griffith Chapel Church with Rev. Richard Blanton, Rev. William Whiteside and Rev. Mike Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Marietta Atkins Cemetery.
