Carri Owens St. Germain, age 59, passed on July 23, 2022 at their family farm in Bakersville, NC having succumb to cancer.
Carri arrived into this world on January 5, 1963, as the first child of Robert and Billie Owens in Murfreesboro, TN.
Carri (or Mimi as she was known to her grandchildren) and husband Michael St. Germain married in 1985 and were pursuing their dream to retire on their farm in the beautiful mountains of NC. Having lived in Raleigh and Mebane NC previously, Carri and Michael have had a retreat in the mountains of NC for many years. In 2012, they established and settled into their Highland Hills Farm in the community of Kona.
Carri LOVED animals and she was surrounded by her cats, dogs (working and pets), goats, rabbits, donkeys, and Highland Cattle (not to mention her fish, birds and guinea pigs). Carri loved nature; whether it was working on the farm, taking long rides on the Parkway, watching butterflies on her mimosa tree and flower gardens, looking out for the baby deer/turkeys/rabbits at the beginning of each summer, rescuing a turtle crossing the road, or caring for wild birds and hummingbirds.
Carri was a very talented artist who enjoyed making glass art and jewelry, she was also very creative and gifted when it came to pottery, knitting, leather work and sewing. Her creativity and crafting prowess knew no bounds. Carri had a passion for gardening and spent countless hours working in her flower and herb gardens. She also had a reading and reflection sanctuary area right in the middle of her gardens… oh how her cats loved to visit with her there.
Carri was a voracious reader and a certified scuba diver (Carri also hosted a large scuba diving expo called SEAS). Every holiday was a special occasion, as her warm and loving home was always decorated to the hilt for each holiday season. Carri was in her High School Band (Cary, NC) and love to play instruments at home. She also collected bongo drums. Carri had a passion for traveling and one of her favorite places to visit was the Highlands of Scotland. Carri was very proud of her Scottish heritage and like to attend Celtic games and festivals.
Carri is survived by her husband Michael of Bakersville, NC; parents, Robert Owens of Bakersville, NC and Billie Lang of Bakersville, NC; son, Zachary of Bakersville, NC; daughter Kate, of Greenville, SC; brother and sister, Rob and Stephanie; grandchildren, aunts, cousins and very special niece, Justina.
Carri was loving wife, mother and friend. She was larger than life, her shoes cannot be filled… May she rest in peace.
