Pauline Jones Byrd, age 93, of the Red Hill Community, Bakersville, NC passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mable Tipton Jones. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Carl, Kenneth, and Phillip Jones.
She was a graduate of Tipton Hill High School, then she attended Steed Business College in Johnson City, TN. Pauline later retired from Mitchell County Department of Social Services in Bakersville. She was also a homemaker and a member of the Red Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 76 years, Bradley Byrd; her daughters: Barbara Byrd, Calla Gouge (James) and Maria Holquist (Ryan); grand children: Todd Ledford (Kellie), Scarlett G. Quinn, and James Gouge Jr.; great grandchildren: Victoria Sterling, Kristen Lane (BJ); great great grandchildren: Jaxon Lane, Liam Lane, Adelaide Lane, Macie and Gracie Quinn; special niece, Janice Jones Miller; and her life long friend, Kate Griffith Ledford Pate.
Pauline’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Holly, Melissa, Debbie, and Miranda, and to all the staff of Hospice of the Blue Ridge for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, August 15, 2022 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the Byrd Cemetery.
