Brittie Lee Cabe Duncan, age 91, of the Altapass Community, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13th, 2022.
A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Bertie Rhinehart Cabe. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald Herman Duncan; two brothers: Thomas Glenn Cabe and Charles Edgar Cabe; infant sister, Rose Cabe, as well as two other sisters: Ann Cabe Ferguson and Shelby Jean Turpin Doughenbaugh.
Brittie was a long-time member of Berry Chapel Baptist Church and was the women’s Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. She was employed at Spruce Pine Mica for 26 years, and then went on to Baxter’s from which she retired in 1996. She loved to read and do sudoku puzzles, feed her birds, and enjoyed working outside with her flowers and in her yard. She was a great cook but, most of all, was the world’s best Mamaw.
Surviving is her son, Eddie Duncan and wife, Sherry, of Spruce Pine; two grandsons: Donald Duncan, Jr. and wife, Amanda, of Lenoir, and Nathan Corey Duncan and wife, Cheltsea, of Spruce Pine; four great-grandchildren: Aidan and Julianna, and Gabriel and Michael; and a sister: Shirley Marie Maxwell Spence and husband, Okey, of Matthews. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her church family.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17th at Berry Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in the Berry Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
