Naomi Willis McPeters, age 77, of Horton Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 15th, 2022. A native of Yancey County, she was born on August 18th, 1944 to the late Braskey and Thelma Metcalf Willis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, James Willis, as well as sisters: Margie W. Brock, Hazel Lee Willis and Cheryl Rector. Naomi was a member of Paint Gap Baptist Church in Madison County.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cathy Herron and husband, Dean, of Old Fort; three sisters: Irene Griffin of Taylorsville, Juanita Buckner and husband, Gerald, of Weaverville, and Linda McDaris and husband, Bruce, also of Weaverville; as well as two brothers: Harold Willis and wife, Alphia Jean, of Hendersonville, and J.C. Willis and wife, Shirley, of Weaverville. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 19th, in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Bobby Hughes and Rev. Travis Guffey will officiate. Private burial will be in the Metcalf Cemetery on Horton Creek. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
